The director of the acclaimed RPG Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has some nice things to say about Xbox consoles, hinting that a port may be incoming.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is one of 2024's best games, but you only get to experience it if you own a PlayStation 5. Perhaps this is why, earlier this year, Square Enix said its release was seen as a disappointment.

Talking to GamesRadar, Hamaguchi expressed the desire to bring the Final Fantasy Remake series to as many fans as possible as well as the change the industry needs to face by bringing games to a lot more platforms. As a self-described Xbox fan, Hamaguchi wants to see more of that.

That's according to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi, who told the Daily Star that whilst he's aware that the fan community would like an expansion like Episode Intermission, the team's focus is instead on Part 3 in order to get it out "as quickly as possible".

Unlike Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth won't be getting any DLC, but it's not like the director isn't doing it just because.

Square Enix confirmed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will have no DLC and here's why this decision is both a benefit and a potential missed opportunity.

That being said, he does specifically mention the "next numbered Final Fantasy" as an option. We can only dream. Take Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, for example. This Game of the Year contender (which launched back in February) seemingly only had a three-month exclusivity window, meaning a potential Xbox release could be just around the corner. Who knows if that'll be the case, but the game's director clearly would like to bring it to another audience.
