The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured victories in three out of four assembly by-elections in Punjab, strengthening its hold in the state. The Congress managed to win one seat, while the BJP failed to secure any.

CHANDIGARH: In the four assembly constituencies where by-elections were held, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) garnered 46 percent of the total vote share, surpassing Congress at 33 percent and BJP at 10 percent,

AAP is leading in Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal and Gidderbaha while Congress is leading only on one seat in Barnala. The BJP is at third position in all four seats. Notably, Congress won in Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal and Gidderbaha in the 2022 Punjab elections and AAP won in Barnala.

The bypolls were necessitated after the incumbent legislators were elected to the Lok Sabha earlier this year.
