The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a red alert for the districts of Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, and Karaikal, predicting extremely heavy rainfall (over 20.4 cm) on Tuesday.

The cyclonic circulation is expected to move northwestward, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall to coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry on November 26 and 27. The depression is also likely to cause heavy rainfall to South Coastal Andhra Pradesh from November 26 to 29.

Intense rainfall, with isolated heavy spells, is expected over the next five days due to a system over the Bay of Bengal.
