Microsoft says it’s working with Ubisoft to fix a problem with its latest Windows 11 update that’s been crashing some games, and it’s put the update’s release on pause for devices with those games in the meantime.

According to a message on the Microsoft support page, users who have installed Windows 11 version 24H2 "might encounter issues with some Ubisoft games". The affected titles are Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Assassin's Creed Origins, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and, most notably, Star Wars Outlaws.

The company made the move after complaints that Star Wars Outlaws and games in the Assassin’s Creed series were crashing after installing the new Windows update.

Windows 11 24H2 has just received an optional update which comes with some useful tweaks to the interface. This is patch KB5046740 and it’s in preview – so as ever, you might come across glitches if you install it – and the main changes on the desktop are applied to the taskbar and Start menu.
