Microsoft is testing support for third-party passkeys for Windows 11 in order to make signing in to your accounts quicker and safer.

Microsoft says it’s working with Ubisoft to fix a problem with its latest Windows 11 update that’s been crashing some games, and it’s put the update’s release on pause for devices with those games in the meantime.

A new update for Windows 11 has recently rolled out, and with it comes the announcement that select Ubisoft games will be broken.

Microsoft has stopped offering updates to Windows 11 version 24H2 on PCs that have certain Ubisoft games installed, Bleeping Computer reports. The company made the move after complaints that Star Wars Outlaws and games in the Assassin’s Creed series were crashing after installing the new Windows update.

Windows 11 version 24H2 is causing crashes and performance problems for a number of Ubisoft games, driving Microsoft to limit its rollout.

Windows 11 24H2 has just received an optional update which comes with some useful tweaks to the interface. This is patch KB5046740 and it’s in preview – so as ever, you might come across glitches if you install it – and the main changes on the desktop are applied to the taskbar and Start menu.
