More details are coming to light following the resignation of one Pee Dee town’s entire police force. McColl Police Chief Bob Hale broke his silence on Thursday confirming he was resigning just over a year after taking over the top cop role for the McColl Police Department.

The town of McColl will be without a single police officer on duty, as the entire police force, including the chief, resigned last week.

“Say if someone were stabbed or shot or whatever. Without police enforcement, they would have to come from the sheriff’s office in Bennettsville,” Groom said. “We’re talking 10 or 15 minutes and someone could possibly expire in that amount of time. Without police enforcement, it’s definitely a bad situation.”

The entire police department of McColl, South Carolina, resigned on Friday, leaving the town without any law enforcement officers. The chief of police said his resignation was due to a “hostile work environment” created by a City Council member who allegedly cut significant amounts of the department’s budget.
