Michigan State football tight end Jack Velling is questionable for Saturday's game vs. Rutgers after being hospitalized after a hard hit Friday.

The Spartans tight end has cleared initial medical procedures to play against Rutgers, a game that will determine whether MSU is bowl bound.

One play after hauling in an 11-yard reception on Michigan State’s opening possession, Velling was the target again. Just as the pass from Aidan Chiles was arriving, Purdue defensive back Dillon Thieneman delivered a violent but clean hit to the midsection. The pass fell incomplete and Velling rolled around on the grass in obvious pain.
